Venice and the beginning of Sorrento: Spring Break 09.

**Written prior to today while on train**
Hi.
So im sure since theres just sooo many people who read this damn thing, you've all been desperately waiting for my next entry and were sooo disappointed that i havent been updating like i normally do for the past two weeks..right? So im sure you wont mind the novel...yeah.

so pretty much, this has been an amazing week overall.
TIM CAME. on saturday. It was so stressful waiting all day and then waiting at the airport and then when he finally came it was so exciting! :D So this past week when I wasnt in class we wandered around and did the long list of things I have been planning on doing with him. We climbed the Duomo, and it was much easier this time so yay for being in better walking shape lol, wandered around, went out to dinner at really tasty places, one where i got a GIANT CRAB on top of fresh pasta with fresh tomatoes...(ALEX that restaurant was SO GOOD. GO) walked up to Michelangelo's Square, drank wine, had a really good picnic with amazing cheeses on one of the Arno bridges, watched the sunset, did the love lock :) I'll stop. but you get the point. its been amazing.
Midterms, for the most part (I think) went pretty well. I did okay on my Italian one...she said i just messed up this one part thinking it was all supposed to be in the he/she format but really was in the I...whatever. That class doesnt count for Geneseo anyway. Graphic Design i think i actually did pretty well with. He seemed to like it? And then my other two classes, Intercultural (alot easier than i thought) and Visual (not so much?) I hope i did well on. BUT whatever, they're over!

Yesterday was the start of spring break, and we went to Venice. lols. Venice was a bit of a mess. First, my alarm didn't go off, which was lame. We stupidly hadn't reserved tickets for the train in advance because we lost track of time/my midterms interfered the days before so we went with the hopes that there would be seats. Naturally, there weren't any. So the lady told us we could still get on the train, we'd just have to stand and hope someone didn't claim their seats. The train was pretty much full the whole time so we sat in between cars. Venice is confusing btw, and finding our hotel proved to be a challenge. and then the hotel told us they overbooked so we had to wander around MORE with heavy bags and lots of stairs (mom, your rolly bad that i took as a carry on...notttt fun. Im far too tall to use the wheels and be comfortable) and then we finally got there, and it was a very nice hotel for the same price. which was nice. so we spent the rest of the day wandering around, saw the famous square with the huuuge Basilica and the tower and went down to the markets and it was very pretty, tho very cold and windy which i wasnt expecting. We went to this really cute, fun restaurant for dinner that was tasty but i forgot that tonno was tuna, and we accidently ordered onion and tuna pizza. but i ate it. we went back to the square after it was dark and followed this random scottish man playing the bagpipes around until he stopped and then went back to the bridge and people/boat watched till it got too cold.

Soooo NOW, im on the train to Sorrento (Tech Naples but whatev) which started out kinda bad but so far has been good. We had reserved our tickets (we learned that the hard way) for the 8:43 train, had the alarm go off properly, missed breakfast, but got to our seats with a little time and were all settled.... until Tim realized they had never given him his passport back. sooo we had to get off and see if we could get tickets for the next train (which we did but not together...for this half we've been lucky and no ones needed to sit in the seat next to me yet) and go back to the hotel and get his passport back. Thankfully, if worked out that we still make our hotel reservation in Sorrento on time, got on the next train, and got breakfast since we were back at the hotel.
So overall, Venice is cool, but I harbor some resentment towards it.
LATER
So we were lucky on the way down to Naples that we were able to sit next to eachother on the train ause the train was really empty. Naples is essentially the italian version of NYC with cooler grafitti and...more italians. Atleast, that was the vibe that both Tim and I got while being there for 2 hours.
Sorrento is gorgeous. and would be ideal for spring break had not God decided he hated me and made it FREEZING cold this week. I asked our really nice cab driver what was up with this weather, and he said that yesterday a really cold wind from he north blew in, and its supposed to stay this cold for the week, and its VERY WEIRD. I told him its because Im here.
So today Tim and I wandered around Sorrento. The coast is awesome. Theres just sheer drop off cliffs into bluueee water, despite it not being perfectly sunny so i can only imagine what it looks like when it is. The houses on the cliffs are also awesome, and would gladly live in any one of them. When we went to the central square, it seemed like everyone just knew each other, and were very friendly and it was just a very well aquatinted ad happy city. We explored a bunch, stole some amazingly fragrant and large lemons from a tree, had a little picnic, and then retreated back to our hostel do to the really cold wind. The hostel btw is the most amazing hostel ive ever seen. I would honestly put it on par with a really nice hilton hotel. its amazing.
So spring break being cold isnt fun, especially because I didnt expect that ATALL and packed nothing very warm thinking id be frolicking in my dresses and things and not a sweater and scarf. merh.

I pray that it gets warmer.
