Lets see.
As of yesterday, we have now been here for a Month (wooo!!) I have to admit, these past couple weeks have really flown by. The first week, week and a half here felt like it took centuries but after that its been going by very fast.
Apparently this has been the coldest italian winter the people at the front desk can remember in a very long time, but its really not that cold. I mean, its not WARM, but i know Geneseo is a good 10 degrees lower.
So since it has been nice out (no rain! knock on wood) i realized i didnt bring any skirts and so, i went on A Mission. There is an H&M here somewhere, and i know their cheaper, and have been told that there are cute skirts there. Knowing the general area in which H&M hid, and having passed it once before I was fairly confident that i could stumble upon it once again. Turns out i was wrong, and spent almost 2 hours wandering around the same block of streets looking like a lost tourist. It was really warm and lovely out tho, so it made me feel better. I would have found it (as i come to find later) if Creepy Italian Man 1 hadn't come around. Im walking down the street that H&M ends up being on, and suddenly CIM1 is IN MY FACE with a pen shouting FIRMA!! (sign). And i just continue walking and saying no... noo... and he starts yelling at me in italian and following me. So i walk faster and continue away. Somehow, i managed to walk just short of the H&M and turned around to walk back down the other side of the street, when sure enough CIM1 SEES me, crosses the damn street and shoves the pen in my face again, this time just yelling in italian. So i walk faster and he follows and i finally just yell I DONT UNDERSTAND YOU GO AWAY!!! and he stops, and starts talking in English about drugs and war. and so, H&M evaded me and i remain Skirtless. I will be back though.
So having a half hour to kill, i grabbed some lunch at this little hole in the wall place where dozens of italian ppl were (and it was good) and sat on the steps of the Duomo, People Watching. People Watching in the Piazza where the Duomo is, is always highly entertaining. I watched a family (mom, dad, and 13year old daughter) all dressed in crazy clothes looking like they stepped out of the Zoolander movie (i kid you not, EVEN THE DAD) wearing silver sequined things, lots of trendy scarves, and matching plum purple accessories, excpet the dad, who had on a puffy, somewhat shiny purple jacket. They looked so dumb, i really wish i had my camera. There was also Tourist Lady, who had on a lovely red, orange, green-blue, patterned jacket, a fishermans hat, too short faded black leggings, high green ankle socks and redish sneakers. With her giant camera. I sat next to random group of French boys and was entertained by their soccer skills, and then there was the random group of kids who would just run in front of a crowd of tourists, Scream an dpoint to the top like someone was about to jump off, then run away again. Repeatedly. Dunno why.
Tuesday was Marti Gras/end of Carnavale, and i decided to live a little and go out. So i did, and had a lot of fun since we finally went dancing somewhere. It was hot and sweaty and vaguely reminded me of Dream, that stupid club back home in Fishkill? But with alot more older Italian men than 13 year olds. So many costumes. And Michelle Conston?? yeah that was weird...but Creepy Italian Man 2 and 3,4,5,6...were there. CIM2 was the worst, simply because he just DIDNT LET GO, but my roomate saved me and it was great. He had a Zorro mask on and was just...weird. He'd go up to girls hed been dancing with, offer them his hand and say in a very dramatic voice "Remember me??" and whisk away. He also sat on my lap, and then got up and dramatically was like "oh, i am...SORRY"and whisked away. idk. 3-6 were just random guys who grabbed at everyone.
but honestly, it was fun, despite the death death death i felt yesterday.
But last night was good. The roomies and I cooked dinner and were entertained by the funny Canadian men who were downstairs that reminded me of Geneseo people, and then went swimming and bonded of disney wedding dresses and music.
So hopefully, this weekend i will buy a skirt, go on a adventure with my friend Erin to somewhere, and yeah. Sorry for the novel? lol.
